UK-based oil and gas services firm, Petrofac has signed a $ 200m agreement with Royal Dutch Shell and its partners, Malaysia’s Petronas and the Iraqi government, to boost production from the super-giant Majnoon oil field. Shell is planning to increase output from Majnoon, which has estimated reserves of 12.6 billion barrels, to 175,000 barrels a day by the end of next year from current 60,000 barrels a day. Under the deal, Petrofac will provide engineering, procurement and construction management services to build a new early-production system comprising two trains each with a total capacity of 50,000 barrels a day of oil. www.petrofac.com
Halliburton Co. has been contracted by Exxon Mobil Corp. to use three drilling rigs to provide oil drilling services at a large field under development in southern Iraq.
The contract from ExxonMobil Iraq Ltd. covers services for 15 wells at the 8.6 billion-barrel West Qurna Phase I oil field, one of Iraq’s largest. www.halliburton.com
